Eric Borgstein trained in General surgery in Scotland and in Paediatric surgery in Amsterdam. Since 1992 he has worked as Paediatric surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi. He is Professor of Paediatric Surgery at the College of Medicine of the University of Malawi. He has a longstanding interest in surgical training at all levels and has been instrumental in the development of the MMED in Surgery at the College of Medicine and the FCS (Paediatric surgery) in the College of Surgeon of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) of which he is currently Registrar.
