After doing his MD in Community Medicine from CMC, Vellore, Prabir began training village level workers. During 1986 he worked in Tirupattur and Yelagiri areas. Back in West Bengal, he trained health workers in Santal Parganas, Purba Burdwan and Uttar Dinajpur over the years. His primary focus area in rural healthcare service had been for the early detection, prevention and cure of Tuberculosis, Malaria and Kala Azar. He has worked in Childhood Immunization and Maternal Health for over 30 years, including 4 years as Polio Surveillance Officer (Godda- Jharkhand) and 6 years as District Immunization Consultant (UNICEF- West Bengal). In SHRC, Chhattisgarh he was involved in training of Mitanins (frontline Health Workers) and policies for retention of rural Medical Assisants. Prabir joined Amader Haspatal, Bankura (W Bengal) in June 2020 as a physician and trainer.
