Joseph Birago is an Environmental Health Officer who currently serves as the Head of the Occupational Health Unit at the Ministry of Health in the United Republic of Tanzania. He led the development of the national policy guidelines for workers’ health and safety in healthcare facilities and emergency responders and is responsible for overseeing the implementation of occupational health and safety programmes for health workers throughout the country. He has collaborated with the International Labour Organization and the World Health Organization to strengthen the protection of the health, safety, and wellbeing of health workers in the United Republic of Tanzania.
