Sonja Tanaka is an expert in global health policy and strategy. Her work focuses on bridging evidence, advocacy and impact, and articulating policy positions, strategies and engagement in global governance processes. She is the Deputy Director of Global Health 50/50 where she guides its research and engagement initiatives to advance gender equality, diversity and inclusion in the global health system. She was previously part of the Executive Office of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), where she worked on UNAIDS global strategies, contributions to the UN General Assembly Political Declarations on AIDS and its positions in Agenda 2030.
