Dr Asamani is Health Workforce Team Lead for the WHO African Region. He has led impactful health labour market analyses and broader health systems work in several African countries. James is a Commonwealth Scholar and a widely published health economist. He has a PhD in Health Sciences, specialising in need-based modelling for health workforce planning from the North-West University in South Africa. He also has an M.Sc. with distinction in Health Economics and Health Policy from the University of Birmingham, UK, and an M.Phil. in Nursing, specialising in Healthcare Management and Human Resources for Health, from the University of Ghana. Dr Asamani is an extraordinary Associate Professor at the Centre for Health Professions Education of the Faculty of Health Sciences, North-West University, South Africa.
