Currently holds the position of an Associate Nurse Manager (ANUM) in Rehab/Geriatric Evaluation Management (GEM) Unit at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. This unit is a 40-bed ward offering multi-disciplinary services to patients to optimize their level of functioning post-surgery or an acute illness. Maria was an ANUM in the Transitional Care Program (TCP) of the same hospital before she moved to Rehab during the pandemic in 2020. This ward had a 35-bed capacity. Patients were either waiting to be discharged to a permanent resident facility or to home. TCP closed at the height of the pandemic. She holds the Quality portfolio in the Rehab/GEM unit as well as the Health and Well-being champion. An active member of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Scrub Choir. A Registered nurse from the Philippines, she moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2008 and gained qualifications. Worked as a Clinical coordinator in an Residential Aged Care facility for 2 years prior to working at the Royal Melbourne hospital in 2011. Living and working in Australia for 15 years now.
