Dr Emma O’Brien OAM the founder of music therapy at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Scrub Choir. She is an internationally renowned innovator in the role of music in wellbeing; specializing in facilitating the creation of original songs with individuals and communities and staff wellbeing projects in music therapy. Emma is a singer, director, music therapist, composer, researcher, and choir master. Emma was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2017 for her service to community health through music therapy programs. Scrub Choir goes from strength to strength, has released, written and recorded three original songs about healthcare workers experiences of 2020, been featured in the media worldwide, performed in international festivals and has engaged 1,000s of healthcare workers. The most recent collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO) demonstrates the extraordinary commitment of The WHO to the continued support of, and improvement of, healthcare workers wellbeing across the globe.
